If you’re looking for a truly unique, hands-on experience, this is absolutely worth it. I had an incredible time forging my own knife from a railroad spike, something I never imagined I’d be able to do!

From the moment I walked in, Ken was welcoming, knowledgeable, and made the whole process feel approachable and exciting. He guided the class step-by-step while still letting us do the real work ourselves, which made it even more rewarding.

As a complete beginner, I had an amazing time, learned a ton, and walked away with a knife I’m genuinely proud of. Such a fun, memorable experience. I’d go back again in a heartbeat!

Yesterday my friend and I took Ken's railroad spike knife class. It was a birthday gift for me from my friends and we had a blast. Ken was absolutely amazing. From the moment we walked in he was so friendly and knowledgeable. My friend had taken a blacksmithing class before, but this was new to me.

We signed our wavers and Ken went over his shop rules which in any other class would have been boring. Ken's rules for the shop are witty and clever and easily remembered and he reminds you every time you move to a new station.

The class itself is extremely enjoyable. After we geared up in our safety equipment Ken gave us a quick tour and gave us an idea of what we would be doing. He had a ton of examples of styles that we could make before we even got started. Ken is a great mix of hands on and hands off. He swapped between mine and my friend's projects when demonstrating the next step. He was very attentive and would correct mistakes he saw happening right away, providing advice or a demonstration when necessary.

Ken himself is wonderful. He's a great teacher and wonderful man to chat with. Anytime there was a moment of downtime between steps we were chatting away. He has so many interesting stories and he showed us a bunch of projects he's worked on over the last few years. We learned about his hydrologic press he custom built, many of the machines he's restored or repaired, his time in the military and the rodeo. We chatted about motorbikes, Rambo, star trek, and music. Ken showed us a ballad cover of "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister that I'd never heard before while we waited for our spikes to heat up in the forge. The highlight had to be when he showed us the beautiful custom knives he's working on right now. They're damascus steel and were sold at a fundraising auction for his church.

Even after the class ended we lingered so long just chatting with Ken that our stomachs were grumbling at us to get going to have lunch. Which he also provided a great recommendation for a Korean restaurant on Princess St called Gangnam Style that was fantastic.

We had an absolute blast, and I would highly recommend anyone with an interest in blacksmithing or trying something new take the class.

Thanks so much again Ken!

Got to experience Got Your Six Metalworks today with a bunch of vets, courtesy of Cannaconnect to take part in the bbq tool workshop. It was such a great experience learning the fundamental blacksmithing skills under Ken’s knowledgeable instruction. It was comforting to see a focus on safety and instruction in what could be quite intimidating. Thanks to Len and Tom for their skill and hospitality.

My teenage son did the railroad spike knife class and it was a fantastic experience. Ken is professional, knowledgeable, and patient. This was a Christmas present for my son and he loved it, he loves the knife and he's proud he made it. Can't recommend this enough, with Ken's guidance anyone can do this. We live a couple of hours away but it's worth the trip to Kingston.

We took a Saturday Railroad Spike class in November. Ken was a great teacher and we had a great time learning some basic blacksmithing skills. Neither of us had any previous experience. Ken was patient and helpful guiding us through the process. We had some great conversations and are excited to get back in the shop!

I attended the evening class last night in making railroad spikes into knives, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Ken was very knowledgeable in every step and knew just the right way to explain things so that they made sense to someone that’s didn’t have much experience in forging! I would highly recommend this class if you have the opportunity!

My husband and I booked October 12th for my birthday and his. This was Saturday of thanksgiving weekend and he at no point tried to rush our 4 hours. He was so informative and hands on with us. I expected him to take over at several points but whenever I had trouble he would stop me and explained and then gave me the literal tools to make my knife myself. Because of that I feel like I made my knife from start to finish! We both made two beautiful knives. When we showed them to our friends and family no one believed that we made them ourselves! This was one of my best experiences of any trip I’ve been on. Highly recommend!!!

This was a 5/5 experience. I enjoyed a new activity with my wife over Thanksgiving weekend. We both crafted a knife from a rail way spike. They turned out amazing! I might just be hooked on blacksmithing now. I highly recommend to anyone looking to find a new experience to give this a try and bring a friend or small group. Just found my next hobby!

Amazing experience! I did the railroad spike knife class, and am so happy with how it turned out. Ken is a great instructor, he made sure I got experience with all of the tools while also ensuring the end product was exactly as I wanted.

I learned a lot and loved being able to make something so special with my own hands. This is such a unique and fun experience - I would definitely do it again!

Stumbled upon this place while looking for things to do over the weekend. I called Ken and he was more than accommodating given our last minute booking. Between all of the forging and hammering, we got to chatting with Ken and he's a delight and clearly passionate about this place. If you've ever been curious about what the contestants on Forged in Fire go through, you'll very quickly find out that it's no joke.

This class was hard work but so fulfilling seeing a hunk of metal slowly turn into a functional knife, and taking home something you've made feels awesome. Ken walked us through every step of the process and even explained some of the science behind it and talked us through the logistics of what it takes to run a forge. To my knowledge, there's nowhere else between Toronto and Ottawa that offers classes like this and it's worth every penny.

I just went to the railroad spike class today and it was so fun! It’s not all about hammering metal. Getting to see with demonstrations and do the real craftsmanship was satisfying. I would definitely go again.

I took the tomahawk class with my two sons and it was fantastic. They had a great time and Ken was an awesome instructor. He provided excellent guidance and great feedback.

I've done some forging in the past, but life got in the way and it was put on the back burner. This experience has given me the kick that I needed to dust off my old tools and get back at it, with my sons now also excited at diving deeper into the hobby.

Thanks for a great day Ken!

As a sword enthusiast, I was so excited when Ken opened up an accessible ironworks in a convenient downtown location. Just from one beginner's class, you can tell Ken has a well-honed approach to his art and is a passionate instructor. He shows you how smithing can be safe, therapeutic, rewarding, and fun. Not only is starting your own smithing journey more affordable to the layman thanks to his well equipped shop, but his expert advice is invaluable to smiths of any skill level. I and everyone I know who has taken one of his courses have not stopped showing off our work, and I cannot recommend trying blacksmithing for yourself enough!

I attended the introductory course in April. My wife knew I was interested in the craft and surprised me with the course for my birthday.

All required material, tools and equipment were on site and ready to go. Ken was very thorough explaining the basics and stressing safety for all involved. Ken also provided just the right amount of advice but still allowed us to explore and experience success at our own pace. By the end my arm was exhausted and I wish that I had done some cross-training with a heavy hammer.

I made 2 BBQ tools in the 4hr session that I attended. The tools turned out surprisingly well. My steak hook is now my go-to tool for slab meat on the bbq. I was thrilled for the experience and have been YouTubing smithing hammers and projects since then.

Overall I had a great experience and have recommended it to many of my friends. I plan to go back and try a few new projects and improve on my basic skills.

I recently had the privilege of attending a knife-making course at Ken Wentz's Got Your 6 Ironworks. It was an experience that exceeded my expectations and left me with a newfound appreciation for the art of forging.

From the moment I stepped into the workshop, I was captivated by the atmosphere of creativity and craftsmanship. Ken Wentz guided us through the process with the ease and confidence that comes from years of experience. His professionalism was evident in every aspect of the course, from the well-organized workspace to the clear and detailed instructions.

The highlight of the course was undoubtedly the opportunity to forge my own knife from a railroad spike. Under Ken's expert guidance, I was able to transform a simple piece of metal into a functional and beautiful tool. The process was challenging yet incredibly rewarding, and I was amazed at what I was able to create with my own hands.

Ken's depth of knowledge and passion for his craft were truly inspiring. He was always ready to answer questions, share insights, and provide helpful feedback. His enthusiasm was infectious, making the learning process enjoyable and engaging.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend Ken Wentz's Got Your 6 Ironworks highly enough. Whether you're a seasoned blacksmith or a curious beginner, this course offers a unique and enriching experience. If you have an interest in forging, don't hesitate to sign up. You won't be disappointed!
